Allow us to go over some keys areas of Medicare for you. If it is time for you to start considering your Medicare plans and have limited knowledge of the subject, this is for you. We will talk about the different "Parts" of Medicare.

How to Enroll in Medicare

The "Parts" of Medicare

Some of the most common inquiries we receive refer to the different "parts" of Medicare. Medicare is separated into 4 major parts. These parts are: Part A, Part B, Part C and Part D. These different parts of Medicare each cover different services.

To begin, Part A and Part B are what is sometime referred to as “original Medicare”.

    Medicare Part A

Medicare Part A is the hospital insurance part of Medicare. Part A will cover most of your hospital, nursing, home health, and hospice care. If you have worked and paid Social Security taxes for 10 years (or 40 quarters) this service is free for you. If you have worked and paid Social Security taxes for less than 10 years you ill be subjected to paying a premium every month for these benefits.

    Medicare Part B

Medicare Part B covers the more common services. This is your basic medical insurance. These services include (but are not necessarily limited to):

    • Medically necessary doctors’ visits
    • Outpatient services
    • X-Rays and other testing
    • Ambulance services
    • Preventive care

    Medicare Part C

Medicare Part C plans are exclusively available through private insurance companies. Part C is what is referred to as Medicare Advantage Plan. These plans cover Parts A and B while giving you added benefits from private insurance companies. Part C plans provide more coverage than you would get with parts A and B alone and usually cover more of the out of pocket costs you would be paying with Parts A and B. With Part C, a limit of you out of pocket costs is granted to you. Some of the added benefits you could expect from a Plan C (or Medicare Advantage) plan include:

    • Vision
    • Preventive Dental
    • Vision
    • Hearing

If you are interested in a Medicare Advantage Plan give Licensed Insurance Advisors a call at (855) 549-2046 and one of our skilled and experienced representatives will help you get the benefits you need.

    Medicare Part D

Medicare Part D is what helps pay your prescription drug costs. Much like Medicare Advantage (Part C), Part D plans are exclusively available through private health insurance companies and never provided by the government. Part D is a prescription drug plan. By finding the right Medicare Advantage Plan, Part D coverage may be a built in benefit of the plan.
